Players
If you did not have a chance to join recent events over the spring, then look at the Events page where links to replays are available of some of our work. It looks like we will be holding zoom sessions for some time to come, and we have decided not to meet in the studio.
In October and until Christmas we will continue to meet on a regular basis on Tuesdays using zoom and sometimes Thursdays. Zoom link details are below, and are the same as before. We have a programme of events everyone can join in with – usually meeting for around one hour or so. All zoom sessions start at 8.00pm.
We are planning two play items as well as club nights . We will try to read and record ‘The Bear‘ and one of the Murder Mystery plays that have not yet been recorded. We have already performed ‘Lucifer Struck at Blazes‘ and we could re-record that as it is being refined. So hopefully there is something for everyone.
Club nights
We plan to have Thursday as a ‘club night’ meaning it’s more or a social ‘drop in’ session such as quiz / music / poem / share nights. Leaders should rotate (take turns) around the group. Do you have any suggestions for future meetings? We are getting to the stage where we have lots of plays, recordings, quizzes, poem and music sharing and so on. If you have an idea or a play / piece you would like to try with the Players – why not join in and bring your suggestions to the group?
Sylvia Collingwood
It is with great sadness we learnt from Graham (also a sometime Player) that Sylvia has passed away. Sylvia was a very long time supporter of the Players and always helped us front of house until she became gradually less mobile. We will miss her happy welcome at our productions. She leaves two adult sons and husband Graham. A funeral with reduced numbers will be held on Friday 30 October at St Peter’s Church in Marlow. Hilary Cox is planning to attend to represent the Players.
Events
In general terms, Tuesdays are more formal sessions such reading and recordings, whilst Thursdays club nights eg quizzes, music.
27 October : Casting / reading of The Bear. This is a new item for us. Please join us to either take a reading part for a future recording or you can just drop in and be in ‘listen mode’.
29 October: club night
3 November : continue with The Bear.
5 November: club night (no firework gatherings I should think)
10 November: rehearsal Dark Lady
12 November: club night – bring and share poems/ stories etc.
17 November : Recording The Bear
19 November: club night
24 November :Recording Dark Lady
26 November: club night – quiz
