 Brian Plested

Stage Manager

Brian Plested

Brian first joined us backstage in “Haywire” and has actually appeared onstage in “The Darling Buds of May”. Brian makes our productions a family affair with his wife Iris doing our ticketing and front of house and son Louis transporting the set to and from our studio. Lately he has taken on the role of tea maker-in-chief at rehearsals.

Graham Evans

The Set

Graham Evans

Graham is another “Hobson’s Choice” debutant and has thrown himself in to all things technical backstage. He has even appeared in an acting role in “The Darling Buds of May”. This time he has spent his efforts designing and constructing the set, with help from Brian and Charlie and anybody else who turns up on a Wednesday.

 Caroline Law

ASM

Caroline Law

Caroline has been with us since “The Darling Buds of May”; somebody had to be backstage while the rest of the crew were gallivanting on stage. Caroline attends to all those small details that make the bigger picture.

 ElenaS42bw

Properties

Elena Pond

Elena first played for The Players the role of Phillipa Haymes in “A Murder is Announced” and last appeared as Mariette in “The Darling Buds of May”. She is quite at home organising and obtaining props for productions and I have an inkling she prefers it.

GloriaK01 colour

Costumes

Gloria Kendrick

Gloria has been with us for over a decade and has appeared onstage in leading roles, backstage as stage manager and in front of stage as director. Sometimes you can even see her in the audience.

The Cast

In order of appearance

Brian Couling

Sprules

Brain Couling

Brian is a long standing member of the Players and our current treasurer. He has been in every production in the last 14 years, with one exception, and most as the leading man. This is his second outing as a butler having previously played Lane in “The Importance of being Ernest”.

 SuzeW

Simpson

Suze Ward

Suze first appeared for the Players as Alice Hobson in “Hobson’s Choice” and last appeared as Ma Larkin in “The Darling Buds of May”. This is her second outing as a maid and once more has designs on the butler.

 DianaH34

Miss Benita Mullet

Diana Hudson

Di has been with the Players for longer than she would like me to say. She has appeared in a variety of roles from the leading lady in “Hay Fever” the fraught wife in “Pack of Lies” and the murdering stage manager in “Murder in Play”, but I think this is the first time, possibly not the last, as a dotty aunt.

 SaraDD01

Louise Allington

Sara Di Donna

Sara is the Players secretary and has been with us, off and on, for 15 years. Her last break was to start a family. Her last role was as Angela Snow in “The Darling Buds of May”. Actresses in general are rarely well served in farce – even to this day – being usually pushed to the side lines, Tons is quite exceptional in that the character of Louise is not only central but actually dictates, in most instances, the course of the action.

James Taylor

Aubrey Allington

James Taylor

James has been absent from the Players for a little while, so we are glad to see him return to take a leading part in this production. He first appeared for the Players as Peregrine Ward in “Will you still love me in the morning?” and his last major role was as Algernon Moncreiff in “The Importance of being Ernest”. Here he reprises the part made famous by Ralph Lynn in this the first of the Aldwych farces.

 TonyB80

Giles

Tony Bew

Tony has been with the players since 1997 and has appeared on and back stage as the leading man, bit part butler, stage manager and director. Here he has a part where he doesn’t even need to remember his lines as he will be carrying a prop with him to remind him what to say.

SONY DSC

James Chesterman

Robin Teasdil

Robin joined the Players in 2009, playing the part of Harrison Bracewell in “Murder in Play”, because he wanted to try something different. Fortunately for us he caught the bug and has appeared with us on stage since. He is also a useful member of the committee, providing numerous services and acquiring those hard to find props.

 Jennifer Major

Jean Everard

Jennifer Major

Jen is another who first appeared for the Players in 2004 as Maggie in “Hobson’s Choice”. She has played both leading and minor parts since, most notably Constance Middleton in “The Constant Wife”. She is having a slight problem playing Jean in that she has trouble maintaining such vacuousness.

 RichardM01

Henry

Richard Mauldon

Richard is a newcomer to the Marlow Players but has acted with the Maidenhead Drama Guild now for 16 years performing a wide variety of roles from Shakespearean Dukes to playing Alan Bennett, with a few Panto nasties thrown in.

His last production was Relative Values where he played Cresswell, the indomitable butler

 Chris Richards

George Maitland

Chris Richards

“Hobson’s Choice” was obviously a very useful play for the Players as this was also Chris’s first play where he played Will Mossop. He has played at least once a year since then and last played the eccentric German anarchist Herr Winkelkopf in “Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime”

Giles Cox

Men’s Understudy

Giles Cox

For the first time I can remember, the Players have the luxury of an extra male actor to cover any eventualities. Giles first appeared with the Players as Tim Fermor in “Murder in Play”.
