Autumn Newsletter – Second Issue

Gloria directed two amazing performances of Shooting at Friendly Film Studios in September and October: the first at the Upper Thames Sailing Club at Bourne End, to a most enthusiastic crowd and then we played to a packed Liston Hall in October.  Well done to the team, and particularly to the publicity, who produced posters which went up around the town, and managed to contact other organisations who turned up (W.I.; Marlow Operatic, the Community Association etc.

We are now looking forward to our performance of Murder in an Ice Cold Manner at The Royal Oak, Bovingdon Green now scheduled for Thursday, 30th November. The arrangements were changed by the owner, as they decided to close on Tuesday nights. This has meant that some of the actors can no longer be available, and we are looking for a few new people to fill in the gaps. Like our other Murder Mysteries, this is presented as a live “radio show” so the scripts are read: no lines to learn by heart, though of course they are rehearsed to our usual high standards. Please let us know via our website and email if you are interested in joining in. This should be a really fun evening in a new venue!

Rehearsal schedule:

Tuesdays in November: 7th, 14th, 21st 28th and the performance from 8 pm on Thursday 30th.

TUESDAY 31ST OCTOBER: HALLOWE’EN SOCIAL

 IN THE SPIDERY* STUDIO!!

*All webs are fake as Andrew cleaned the ceiling and nooks and crannies during the Summer!

BRING DRINKS AND NIBBLES AND A CREEPY STORY, POEM OR TALE AND DRINK AND NIBBLES TO SHARE AND A COSTUME IF YOU LIKE!

This will be a chance to meet up with all members, not just those currently cast for a show!

FUTURE EVENTS:

December: Readings of plays to choose for the production at Great Marlow School in April, and casting reading, and start of rehearsals:

Dec 19th: Carols on the Causeway followed by the usual social mince pies and mulled wine.

January: New Year gathering tbc

Tuesdays and Thursdays: Rehearsals in the Studio

February: Tuesdays and Thursdays rehearsals in the Studio

March: rehearsals in the Studio, including some Sunday afternoons as required by the Director

April: Final Rehearsals and performances at Great Marlow School.

This is our new venue, and the facility is superb! The staff are very supportive, we get an excellent and well-equipped stage and loads of room to change, plus a side hall for teas and coffees.

We shall need Front of House Staff and backstage: assistants for sound effects, lights and props, oh- and a few actors and a director!

Les Baladins will be coming over to spend the weekend with us Friday 24th May to Sunday 26th performing at “La Nonna” at Great Marlow School on Saturday 25th May. They have won numerous awards for this show in Drama festivals throughout France and it features some of their longest serving actors, all old friends, as well as some newer faces. We will be asking for accommodation in the new year, so please NOBODY GO ON HOLIDAY THAT WEEKEND: WE NEED ALL BEDS WE CAN GET!
