Autumn Newsletter 2024

If you were one of the lucky audience members who managed to get one of the tickets to our recent sold-out Ghost stories event at Liston Hall, then we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Apologies to those who were unable to get tickets: make sure you note the dates below in your diary and watch out for ticket news!

Our Chairman has added his thoughts in his autumn newsletter to everyone below;

The Ghost Night directed by David Choules was a howling success! There was a packed Liston Hall, and the audience enjoyed a series of playlets, poems and extracts all delivered in an immersive theatre context. Well done to David, and to the crew who assisted: Caroline and Alison and Graham.

Liston Hall was appropriately atmospheric, with guttering candles, London (and Scottish) fog, a mopper up who was truly scary and a cast who gave full weight to the words and created splendidly creepy and spine-chilling dramatic episodes. The teamwork, organised by David, meant that everyone helped to set up the tables and platform and take them down and repack at the end: Ross was meant to be in the audience but put his muscles to good use before and after: thanks to everyone on Front of House. It was another terrific evening from the opening seance to the closing song.

We have the scripts to try out for the full-length play to be staged at Great Marlow School April 10-12th: A Tomb with a View; Tom Dick and Harry; and Murdered to Death. There are approximately five male and five female parts in each, so plenty of room for talent and backstage people.

Readings will take place in November, and we’ll look to decide the title and hold a casting reading in December before all the other events crowd in: Carols on the Causeway followed by mulled wine and mince pies, and a Christmas Party (perhaps in our Studio as it looks great with fairy lights)!

We will be going to Marly le Roi May 16-18th to perform a Murder Mystery with variations as part of a diner-spectacle in La Salle des Fetes, familiar party territory, and so will need a second cast for this but rehearsals won’t start until after Easter.

Congrats to David and the team for a well-prepared spectral night!

We have lots going on over the next few months so make sure you add these dates to your diary so you don’t miss out!
