Caroline Law

Stage Manager

Caroline Law

Caroline has been with us since “The Darling Buds of May”. She spent many years as the DSM and became our de facto stage manager for “Wife After Death” She has managed to recruit a useful team around her so that she can concentrate on ensuring the play runs smoothly. This also takes a lot of pressure from the director. Thanks Caroline, sorry about the photo.

 Sue Lovell

Deputy Stage Manager

 Sue Lovell

Sue’s first outing backstage was as the ASM for “Hi-De-Hi” swiftly followed by the DSM for “Wife After Death”. She is now the backstage linchpin and has to make sure that all the props (and there are a few) are in the right place at the right time.

 Graham Evans

Lighting

 Graham Evans

Graham is a “Hobson’s Choice” debutante and has thrown himself into all things technical backstage. He has taken the director’s idea and turned it into a set and has augmented the lighting with a number of his own ideas and equipment. The lighting setup will probably take most of Sunday.

 Charlie Foord

Sound

Charlie Foord

Charlie, “Gadget” as he is affectionately known, joined The Players for the production of “Tons of Money”. Since this production is adapted from television, there are a large number of audio cues with crucial timing. He will need to be on the ball throughout the production. He may even get the sound plot before the play, but that would be too easy.

 Rosina Dolan

Assistant Stage Manager

Rosina Dolan

Rosie, as she is affectionately known, first joined the Players for the visit of the French Baladins, this year, volunteering to house our visitors. She has been helping Caroline with all her tasks, small and large, and for some reason she is still smiling.

Thanks for all your help.

 Mona Rehder

Rehearsal Prompt and general useful person

Mona Rehder

Mona is a German au pair, who has always been interested in the stage. She turned up for rehearsals in September this year, after all the jobs were allocated. We gave her, what to a non-native speaker, is the difficult task of helping the cast off the book and reading in for Owen when Brian was unavailable. If that doesn’t put her off, nothing will!

Special Props

Jacky Boxall

Jacky contacted us after reading the article in Marlow Free Press and offered herself as new blood.

Having taken early retirement she now has time spare and offers numerous backstage skills.

Although she is an ex-English teacher, she would have made a great crafts teacher. She requested not to have a photo taken, hence the blank.

The Cast

 Andrew Stafford

David Horton

Andrew Stafford

Andrew has been with The Players for over two decades and has acted and directed for most of that time. He last played the grumpy old Punch and Judy man, with a surprising singing voice, in “Hi-De-Hi”. Here he plays the pompous, chauvinistic David Horton, the autocrat of Dibley Parish Council. I’m saying nothing about the casting.

 Ruth Williams

Frankie Pickle

 Ruth Williams

Ruth is brand new to the Players, and takes on the challenging role of what was originally the male role of Frank Pickle. With a few word changes and a bit of part swapping, Ruth has managed to re-gender the role quite convincingly. We wish her well in her first role for the Players.

 Tony

Jim Trott

Tony Bew

Tony has been with The Players since 1997 and has appeared as many a lead, and bit part, as well as directing a number of productions. He last appeared as Ted Bovis, the Camp Host in “Hi de Hi” and last directed, “Wife After Death”. Now, now, now… now he has the opportunity to make a hash of both acting and directing.

 Hilary Cox

Letitia Cropley

Hilary Cox

Hilary has been with The Players for an undisclosed number of decades and is always instrumental in our productions both on and off stage. Her last production was as the camp (holiday) dancing instructor, Yvonne Stuart-Hargreaves, in “Hi-De-Hi”. As Mrs. Cropley she gets to show her mad side, complete with maniacal cackling.

 Andy Scott

Hugo Horton

Andy Scott

Andy is now pretty much a stalwart of the Marlow Players and also appears regularly in panto for the Maidenhead Drama Guild. ”’Allo, ‘Allo” was his first outing with us and he last appeared as Dave Thursby’s agent, Harvey, in “Wife After Death”. This time he plays the credulous Hugo, who has been in love with Alice Tinker for 26 years.

 Brian Couling

Owen Newitt

 Brian Couling

Brian is a long standing member of The Players, having reached his twentieth anniversary this year. He has been in every production in the last 14 years, with one exception, and most as the leading man. He last appeared as Harvey Barrett, Dave Thursby’s script writer in “Wife After Death”. There are not quite so many words to learn as Owen the “charming” farmer.

 Martha Wiekens

Alice Tinker

Martha Wiekens

Martha spent most of her time growing up being involved in acting. At school and university she kept up acting in a number of plays, including, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Cloud 9. Since then, she has had a considerable number of years without any acting involvement, until the part of Alice, which was too good an opportunity to resist.

 Gloria Kendrick439

Geraldine Granger

Gloria Kendrick

Gloria has been with us since 1997 and has appeared onstage in leading roles, backstage as stage manager and in front of stage as director. She last played the grieving widow, Laura in “Wife after Death”. She now takes in the eponymous role of Geraldine and has not only worked hard for the part, but has also helped with costumes and props and direction (again).

 Georgina Felisi

Katie

Georgina Felisi

Georgina joined Marlow players to gain extra guidance in the arts and to have some more experience. She loves acting and singing and this experience comes in useful when she performs in school. She is also a poet and has just had one of her poems chosen for publication. We wish her well and hope to see her again in a future production.

 Alex Tomlinson

Luke

Alex Tomlinson

Alex joined the Marlow Players to gain a number of skills and hopes to sign up for good as soon as he turns 16 years old. He has been a drama student at Great Marlow school for 5 years. He wishes to continue with drama with the ambition of becoming an actor. We wish him luck in his ambitions and hope he enjoys this production with us.

Christine Craufolandia

Woman

Christiane Crauford

Originally from Sao Paulo – Brazil, Christiane has been in England for 10 years. She is married with 2 boys. She has always enjoyed acting, and feels that you can call her mad, but she really thought about doing it for living. It didn’t work out and ended up with advertising degree. Could this be the beginning of something big?
